I believe this may vary between states, but in California storage charges can begin three days after completion of the work and a lien can be started any time after three days also and can include up to 30 days of storage.

We do not charge a shop supply fee at our auto repair shop. In California the shop supply charge has had a lot of controversy and the last I heard the ruling was that the charge could not “exceed your reasonable expenses.” Basically you could not make a profit on your shop supply charges.
